Pamela D. Jennings

MA, LPC, CAADC

I especially enjoy working with women broadly on empowerment issues in the areas of emotional coping, stress management and self care, trauma, addictions, self esteem, and functioning healthily in relationships. I have experience working with women who struggle with eating disorders, childhood abuse and abuse in adult relationships, postpartum depression, major depression, and anxiety disorders. I have lengthy experience in treating men and women with substance abuse and dependence issues individually and in groups using a number of approaches.  Life-long recovery from all disorders means developing a recovery-oriented lifestyle and increase in quality of life. My goal and intention is to assist and support this.

There may be a lot of stressors impacting you and challenging your relationships. Sometimes you may feel down and powerless. However, there are no stressors or circumstances that cannot be addressed in our lives. As we recognize what we can and cannot control, and we exercise the control we have, we are able to move forward in amazing ways. While I am here to support you and walk with you, I may also confront you and shake things up to create new pathways to achieve your goals. If you are willing, we can take this journey together.

Very few people emerge out of their families of origin emotionally whole and mature.  My passion is to help individuals become the best version of themselves, both emotionally and spiritually.  My desire for clients is that the therapy process provides them with a safe and nurturing environment to discover their uniqueness and worth, affirming their strengths and giving them skills and tools to respond to the many challenges of life.

During my last 34 years I have been involved in numerous areas of counseling including substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, family reunification, individual, clinical (15 years inside correctional facilities) and trauma therapy. I am passionate about helping people and having a role in developing self-determination. Towards this end, as a counselor, I partner with clients as we explore strategies to grow into the best version of themselves through Motivational Interviewing. As a recovery coach, I amplify good choices, provide accountability for poor choices, and help develop critical thinking skills to make informed choices. As a case manager, I work determinedly to help clients overcome obstacles. For example, I connect clients with primary care physicians as well as resources for clothing and food. I unequivocally believe people are more than their worst mistake and that mistakes have potential to become lessons which empower us grow into the best version of ourselves.

I believe that every person has the potential to flourish. Every person is made up of numerous facets that developed them into who they are. The goal is to address each area and seek growth and to encourage flourishing. In each session the focus is on the individual and the natural skills they possess to achieve their goals as they are equipped with the tools needed to face each area of life.
